PumpkinFest returns to Rhea County

PumpkinFest will return this year for more excitement, laughter, and fun. As the fourth year of celebrating this alternative trick-or-tricking, PumpkinFest has become Dayton’s tradition for Halloween. Instead of having children going door to door to strangers’ houses, children can trick-or-treat in a safe environment in downtown Dayton.
Since Halloween falls on a Saturday, there will be two night of festivities. On Friday, October 30, there will be booths, sidewalk sales, pony rides, a children’s train, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, and Scary-oke. The streets will close at noon and the fun will last until ten that night.
On Saturday, October 31, there will be booths, a quilting competition and exhibit, sidewalk sales, pony rides, a children’s train, a petting zoo, a climbing wall and games, a pumpkin pie eating contest, a costume contest, hay rides, a movie in the park, merchant trick-or-treating, and The Faculty will play. The streets will close at ten in the morning and the excitement will continue until ten that night.
The sponsors for the 2009 PumpkinFest are Community National Bank, Quality Appraisals, Title Insurance Company, First Bank, Rhea Medical Center, Hospice of Chattanooga at Rhea, Edward Jones Investments, SouthEast Bank, Dayton Chamber of Commerce, Robinson Apparel, and La-Z-Boy.
