Fujifilm donates to RCHS graduates
Fujifilm Hunt Chemicals U.S.A., Inc., presented Rhea County High School Principal Jerry Levengood and senior guidance counselor Buddy Ballentine a check on Tuesday, April 28. The donation covers honor tassel expenses for approximately 150 graduating seniors with commendable academic records.
Manufacturing Manager, John. E. Sidenstick, made the contribution to both administrators. “I’m glad I can contribute the tassels for the students’ achievement,” Sidenstick said of the donation.
“It is always a great help when businesses in the community give donations to help our students’ costs,” said Principal Levengood. “The donations from Fujifilm Hunt are useful, timely, and a great help to those students who have obtained the honor tassels.”
Mr. Ballentine felt that the donations were a “neat” way to reward the students, so that they do not have to pay for something extra due to scholastic achievements. Ballentine also commended Linda Miller, Fujifilm plant Human Resources Manager, for her part in facilitating the donation.
Nearly half of the 300 graduating seniors in the Class of 2009 will graduate with an honors tassel. The students were, in the past, required to pay for their own tassel, but the donation will cover the extra expense this year.
