Fu­ji­film Hunt Chem­i­cals U.S.A., Inc., pre­sented Rhea County High School Prin­ci­pal Jerry Le­v­en­good and se­nior guid­ance coun­selor Buddy Bal­len­tine a check on Tues­day, April 28. The do­na­tion cov­ers honor tas­sel ex­penses for ap­prox­i­mately 150 grad­u­at­ing se­niors with com­mend­able aca­d­e­mic records.

Man­u­fac­tur­ing Man­ager, John. E. Siden­stick, made the con­tri­bu­tion to both ad­min­is­tra­tors. “I’m glad I can con­tribute the tas­sels for the stu­dents’ achieve­ment,” Siden­stick said of the donation.

“It is al­ways a great help when busi­nesses in the com­mu­nity give do­na­tions to help our stu­dents’ costs,” said Prin­ci­pal Le­v­en­good. “The do­na­tions from Fu­ji­film Hunt are use­ful, timely, and a great help to those stu­dents who have ob­tained the honor tassels.”

Mr. Bal­len­tine felt that the do­na­tions were a “neat” way to re­ward the stu­dents, so that they do not have to pay for some­thing ex­tra due to scholas­tic achieve­ments. Bal­len­tine also com­mended Linda Miller, Fu­ji­film plant Hu­man Re­sources Man­ager, for her part in fa­cil­i­tat­ing the donation.

Nearly half of the 300 grad­u­at­ing se­niors in the Class of 2009 will grad­u­ate with an hon­ors tas­sel. The stu­dents were, in the past, re­quired to pay for their own tas­sel, but the do­na­tion will cover the ex­tra ex­pense this year.
