I’m starting to work on my college admissions essay, and I’m concerned. Should I get my mom to look it over? I know some of my friends had their parents practically write their essay and college application, but is that right? I don’t want to cheat, but if everyone else is doing it, I don’t want my essay to suck.
I am looking for ways to earn money for college, and I am considering the Army. I was looking at both ROTC programs at other universities and military academies. Which do you recommend? Is this a good way to pay for college?
My high school is offering us the option to not list our class rank on our transcript. Should I let colleges see my rank?
I filled out the FAFSA, and it said our expected family contribution is way over what I think we can afford. Why are they doing this? Is there a chance we can get around this?
I didn’t get into my dream school. I am so in love with the campus at Washington University, and I really hoped I’d get in. The next-best school I got into was Dickinson College, and it’s OK, but I still really want to go to Washington University. What are my chances of getting into WashU as a college transfer?
I’m taking the SATs in two weeks and I haven’t studied yet! What should I do? I’m worried that it will hurt my college admissions chances if I don’t do well. Any advice for cramming for the SATs?
I got into my top choice college, early action, but this year I’m not doing too well in calculus. Do you think they will rescind my offer?
What’s the one part of my application that I should focus on the most? Obviously, my grades and my test scores are what they are, and there is nothing that I can do to change them. I know the essay is crucial, but is it more important than the extracurricular activities or recommendations?
I have many interests, including premed, literature, classics, mathematics and history. How will this affect my college search?
Is it OK to open the envelopes that my teacher’s college recommendation letters are in? I’d really be interested to see what they had to say.
